Wilmington Defeats App. State 21-20 in SRC Championship Game

ELON, NC - The first championship game in the short history of the Southern Rugby Conference didn't disappoint. App. State and UNC-Wilmington showed they were deserving of their #1 seeds as they got through the first round of competition to meet in the finals.

Wilmington started the scoring off early with a converted penalty at 1:00. That put scoring on hold for most of the first half as App. showed they could nullify the potent Wilmington attack by not allowing the ball outside. On the other side, the Wilmington defense kept App. out of the try zone, despite working from within their own 22 meter line for well over 20 minutes.
